Christmas Is A Coming…

A Simple yet Beautiful Eucalyptus Wreath...

A Simple yet Beautiful Eucalyptus Wreath...

Its a month today until Christmas Day… and I can hardly contain my excitement.
I’m a big kid when it comes to Christmas, so in keeping with to the festive season, I thought I’d share with you two newly completed special commission dolls.

Presenting Mr & Mrs Claus...

Presenting Mr & Mrs Claus...

The brief was to make none ‘obvious’ Mr and Mrs Claus, dressed in more traditional attire with a more traditional feel… this is what I came up with.

Jolly Old Mr Claus...

Using the fur from the inside of my favorite and much loved leather gloves, I was able to use real fur to trim Mr & Mrs C’s costumes.

I found using fur was quite challenging as it has quite a long pile making it too long in 1:12th miniature scale. So the only solution was to cut down {which is far less easy than it sounds… believe me}… I found myself covered in fur as well as my studio… but I hope you agree the results made it worth while.

Have you got talent or what Lisa! Mr and Mrs Claus are just wonderful – they will be well loved and admired this Christmas, and come to think of it, it would be very hard to put them away and wait until the following Christmas – big problem! And to sacrifice fur from your favourite gloves really adds the personal touch! there goes another exclamation mark! TerryX

    HI Terry,
    “Happy Thanksgiving”!!!!
Ahh thank you… if I am honest I was really disappointed with the pictures, they really don’t do the dolls justice… but their new owner was thrilled with them in the pictures so I know she will like them in real life 🙂
I’m a vegetarian… so I was a little reluctant to use the fur, but using the fur from my gloves seemed like a nice idea.
Thank you for what you wrote… its a lovely compliment and really made me smile!
    Hugs, Lisa x

Lisa, these dolls are gorgeous! You really outdid yourself! I can just imagine the fur flying! LOL!

Someone is going to be very, very happy and no doubt will be displaying them year round.

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. Hi Teresa,

They were a pleasure to make, fur and all! I can’t wait for Martha to receive them… 🙂

Again, pictures really don’t do them justice, I really do need a new camera 🙁

Currently I’m working on Sleeping Beauty, wearing a Madam-do-Pompaour costume… so many silk roses, but very enjoyable 🙂

    Hugs, Lisa x
