Sweet Sophie…

March 1st, 2010

This morning, we took Sophie our much loved 3 year old Labrador, to the Vetanary Surgery with what we thought was a sore paw. Yesterday she was a little lame with a reluctancy to put any weight on it… unless of course the word “walkies” was mentioned when the lameness would miraculously disappear…

Expecting the vet to tell us, she’d has strained it… I was quite upset to hear the vet explain that often Labradors can suffer from hip and elbow joint complaints. Unfortunately, the she seems to think this could be the case with Sophie. So, reluctantly, we had to leave her there while they run some tests and x-ray her legs! It was so upsetting as she cried as we walked away leaving her there.

We have to call the surgery this afternoon to see if she has recovered sufficiently from sedation for us to collect her… and of course to be given a diagnosis and I imagine a rather large bill!

I can’t tell you how quiet and lonely my home is without my sweet Sophie here with me today and I don’t mind telling you I feel very sad!

nor the joy of companionship;
It’s the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him.”

    Oh Lisa…
I hope everything works out fine for Sophie!
In my family we always had (and still have) dogs, so I know exactly what you mean 😉
I wish sweet Sophie will come home soon!

    Dear Anthoula,

Hello, and welcome! Thanks for your kind wishes for Sophie.

We called the vet surgery 1/2 hour ago and were told we can collect Sophie at 3pm, however, apart from telling us Sophie was comfortable she told us the vet needs to speak with us 🙁

    I’ll keep you posted x

All that I sit it, I also have a pet, a dog macho called Rudy, a crossing of yorky, and understand her very well.
Since in house it we feel(felt) like to someone mas of the family.
I hope that his pet re-puts with readiness, and it continues(continue) many years giving them happiness.
    An embrace

Dear Lisa, We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Sophie has just pulled a muscle – our Cavaliers had that from time to time. We have polished floors and although there are rugs, the dogs can affect their legs when they run or jump! We’re just having a cuppa and our dogs are sitting next to us – it is a wrench when one has to leave them at the vet or in kennels so we feel for you. And yes, the bills!

What an adorable face Sophie has!
I wish her a quick recovery and hopefully a not so expensive one!
I know what Vets are like, (the one I’ve been to anyway)anything they can sell you they will! I think if doctors were like that, I’d never go!

    Hi Nat,

Oh how right you are, she has such an adorable face, she has me wrapped around her little paw, I am such a sofie for her. The vet bill was as expected and were only 1/2 way through treatment… 🙁

Never mind she is home sleeping comfortable beside me now 🙂
