Setting the Scene…

January 18th, 2012

Guess what arrived in my inbox today… ?
Beautiful pictures of the Regency crib I dressed
and wrote a post about ~ in situ ~ wonderful isn’t it…?

My client had specific ideas about what she wanted
when commissioning the dolls… requesting their stance and setting the scene… I think its worked out wonderfully ~ do you agree…?

If you’d like to discuss your ideas with me no matter
how fantastic or vague, please don’t hesitate to email…

A Regency Crib…

January 17th, 2012

My gorgeous client commissioned me to dress a babies crib …
I was give an open brief …
… except …

To dress it simply …
… and splendidly …
And for it to look as though baby had slept in it … peacefully …

I used beautiful vintage laces and the finest of silks …
I think baby slept peacefully …
… I hope she agrees …

Alice & Edward…

January 9th, 2012

Presenting Alice dressed in her nightie
holding her favourite teddy bear, Edward…

Alice has a sweet face with beautiful auburn hair which is tied into
two braids and secured with two pink silk ribbon bows…

Her nightie is plain in style yet it has lots of detail with its smocked bodice trimmed with three tiny pearl buttons and a bow…

And its frilly angel lace sleeves with gathered cuffs and a gathered
hem, while at the back there are three more tiny pearl buttons…

Alice wears cute little pink suede rabbit slippers…
complete with ears, eyes, whiskers a tiny little nose…

In her arm Alice holds her beloved teddy bear Edward…
made by the very talented Yvonne Hunt

As always, Alice’s ensemble is entirely hand~sewn by me.

Currently Alice & Edward are available for sale…

Essence of Lucille…

January 7th, 2012

Presenting a specially commissioned Lucille, by a client who prefers the face very pale… and specifies no blush…

She is every bit as graceful as my original Lucile, sitting on a lovely
sofa which compliments the colour of her ensemble beautifully…

Like my original her fair hair is worn up under an elaborate Edwardian hat, which is trimmed with hand dyed feathers…

And… her dress drapes around her pooling on the floor
and is made using silk, hand~dyed vintage braids and vintage laces…

In essence she is the same…
As always, all hand~sewn and hand~dyed by me…

Presenting Jane…

January 5th, 2012

Unlike her sister Jane is quite the beauty…
Wearing a Regency style empire dress, trimmed with puff sleeves
and a ruched bodice…

She wears a simple silk shawl which falls off one shoulder…
And she holds her favourite poetry book in her hand
by the poet Byron…

Her undergarments are simple, pretty lace trimmed and very much in keeping with the period, while on her feet she wears the finest patent leather shoes in dark emerald green…

Jane has beautiful green eyes complimented by her fair hair… which she wears in an up-do tied loosely in a perfect bun at the back, while soft curls fall framing her sweet and delicate face…

Jane’s dress falls delicately pooling on the floor…
and a silk cushion supports her back.
As always, all hand~sewn and hand~dyed by me.

If you have any enquiries regarding Jane or any other doll,

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary…

January 5th, 2012

Mary is a special commission which I completed prior to Christmas, this is my first chance to post her… its been a wonderful yet busy Christmas and New Year…

My gorgeous client wanted a rather plain Mary… admittedly
she’s not the prettiest of ladies and quite unfavourable amongst men…
she is however quite a character, straight laced and studious…

Mary wears a plain Regency costume with simple undergarments.
Her hair is worn up in a bun
and shyly she hides behind her spectacles…

Mary is an avid artist…
when she’s not drawing or painting she will have her nose in a book,
and importantly she has a kind heart…

As always all seams are hand~sewn by me.

If you have any enquiries regarding Mary
or any other doll, please do email me…
