Christmas Is A Coming…

A Simple yet Beautiful Eucalyptus Wreath...

A Simple yet Beautiful Eucalyptus Wreath...

Its a month today until Christmas Day… and I can hardly contain my excitement.
I’m a big kid when it comes to Christmas, so in keeping with to the festive season, I thought I’d share with you two newly completed special commission dolls.

Presenting Mr & Mrs Claus...

Presenting Mr & Mrs Claus...

The brief was to make none ‘obvious’ Mr and Mrs Claus, dressed in more traditional attire with a more traditional feel… this is what I came up with.

Jolly Old Mr Claus...

Jolly Old Mr Claus...

Using the fur from the inside of my favorite and much loved leather gloves, I was able to use real fur to trim Mr & Mrs C’s costumes.

Mrs Claus...

Mrs Claus...

I found using fur was quite challenging as it has quite a long pile making it too long in 1:12th miniature scale. So the only solution was to cut down {which is far less easy than it sounds… believe me}… I found myself covered in fur as well as my studio… but I hope you agree the results made it worth while.

Thanks to the arrival of a beautiful package from Teresa at Marigold Manor.

I was really touched to win Teresa’s lovely keepsake box and I cannot find words to express just how beautiful it is in real life. Made with love and wrapped so beautifully, she even made a special card and included a candy cane and sweet all tied it all up with a beautiful pink bow…. Christmas really has come early for me! ‘Thank You’ so much Teresa x

They say dreams have meanings... well if that's the case I wonder what my dreams say about me?

Not an evening goes by when I don’t dream. Yesterday evening was no exception… I dreamt I had to unpack and arrange all of the furniture for Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House… what’s that all about?

My Favourite tipple, Latte and Croissants…

Okay, so I’m going to let you in on a secret, I’m on a diet… and I’m sure y’all know its not easy… nope, those little pounds creep on ever so easy… but when it comes to loosing those darn critters… well, its a whole different story!

For me, turning sweet or savory foods down is just plain heart-breaking, and as for swapping full fat milk for skimmed in my beloved Latte, well, thats just sinful.
No matter what they tell you it just isn’t the same at all…!

Delicious Chocolates...

Delicious Chocolates...

So, can you walk-me-through this please………………? I’ve been ever so good this past week, turning down chocolates EVEN refusing the little biscuit that accompanies your ’skinny’ Latte… so imagine my surprise when I weighed-in yesterday and ONLY lost 1 pound… 1 measly pound I tell you “H.E.L.L.O.” I mean……………… where’s the justice in that?

Skinny Lattes here I come…

What did I do…? Go eat my weight in chocolate? Have 3 full fat Lattes and 2 chocolate croissants….?
Hmmm……………… delicious!!!
Moi……………… “No Way” but I can’t tell you I wasn’t VERY tempted!
I’m determined to loose weight for Christmas
{so I can eat as much as I like……… I’m joking……… honest!!}
I’m sticking with this darn diet and hopefully by next week I may loose a little more than a 1 pound… especially since I’ve confessed all to you!
Skinny Lattes here I come!

The Key to Success is YOU...The Key to Success is YOU...

So here’s to y’all trying to loose weight – hang in there – WE can do this together!

Its the Little Things in Life…

November 15th, 2009

…that make me happy…

A relaxing bath with bubbles and candles
Laughing so hard I cry
Watching a good movie with those I love

Curling up on the couch with a good book
Chocolate
A clean and tidy house

Receiving flowers
The smell of clean fresh bedding
The sound of my children laughing

A Very Warm Welcome to All of My New Followers…

November 10th, 2009

Arrive as followers and leave as friends!!!

Its been yet another super, super busy week in the J-R’s, I’ve been merrily working away on orders and boy has the time flown. I’m NOT complaining mind you, because its great to have orders, they mean I can be a stay at home Mum AND I also get to ‘work’ on something I LOVE – creating dolls. Of course, the money is good too and it never comes in wrong, its the ‘jam on the bread’!

Sleeping Girl with her Bear...

Sleeping Girl with her Bear...

I’ve just finished a little sleeping girl with her beloved bear, actually, I created three, the one in the picture went to the US, another went to South Africa while the third is going to Norway.

Looking closely you can see her eyelashes...

If you look closely you can see her eyelashes...

Originally, I’d ear-marked the money I earned to be saved to give to good old Mr Claus… but alas, our car has a fault and it’s needed to go towards the bill for that. I have a feeling it’s going to be a hefty bill… please keep your fingers crossed it won’t be too expensive!

Our Car...

Our Car...

I love my car, Mark bought it for me as part of my 40th birthday present. We picked it up the VERY day I passed my driving test… it was so cool! I bought Mark a bike, lol… seriously I did……………………………………………. {stop laughing} {its what he asked for… honest…!} he rides his bike 20 miles every day to work so that I can have the car… how sweet is that? I love driving and can’t believe I waited until my 40th year to learn to drive and I adore my car… so I guess, paying the bill won’t hurt too much…

Bonfire Night, a Celebration of the capture of Guy Fawkes.

For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, I shall attempt to give you a little background information on the infamous plot and treason of the one and only Guy Fawkes…

guy_fawkes

Guy Fawkes…

On 5th November 1605, a man by the name of Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament, in London.

Guy Fawkes and hIs Conspirators...

Guy Fawkes and hIs Conspirators...

In the days prior, he and his conspirators broke in to the Houses of Parliament laying down barrels of gunpowder in the basement. His plot leaked out in the very early hours of the morning of 5th November and Guy Fawkes was captured by the king’s guards. However, he didn’t deny his plans, in fact, Guy Fawkes stated that it had been his purpose to destroy the King and the Parliament.

An Effigy of Guy Fawkes…

The tradition of Guy Fawkes night each year on 5th November has passed down through the centuries, with celebrations involving fireworks displays and the building of bonfires on which traditionally “Guys” are burnt. People celebrated the fact that the King was not assassinated.

Fireworks on Bonfire Night…

Nowadays we see Guy Fawkes night as a family get-together, a time to wrap up warm standing around bonfires, drinking hot drinks and toasting marshmallows on the open fires, feeling the heat of the flames on a cold autumn night… while watching fireworks and enjoying the moment!

I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot.
