Tudor Times…

August 21st, 2011

Wearing a white smock with collar and cuff under a green kirtle and skirt. Beatrice wears a crisp white apron over…

An open fitted English gown with puffed sleeves is worn on top…
this is somewhat like a coat…

On her head Beatrice wears an Elizabethan coif
with shaped brim and forehead cloth…

Stiff neck and wrist ruffs which are forever associated with
Elizabethan costume are worn by all no matter the class…

Her undergarments are plain in keeping with the period.
As always, Beatrice’s costume is all hand~sewn…

Beatrice is in charge of three tiny keys
which are kept safe hanging around her waist…

A Tudor Tale…

July 10th, 2011

This beautiful Tudor House is owned by my very dear client
Elizabeth… and in her own words “is very much a work in progress…”

Elizabeth’s knowledge of the Tudor period is outstanding and
confirmation of this can be seen in the exquisite detail of every room…

I was delighted to be commissioned by Elizabeth to make all of her
dolls, here Ellen can be seen in her bedroom… with her beloved pets.

Even though its far from being finished, Elizabeth really captures the spirit of Tudor lifestyle here in the sparsely furnished living room…

Young Martha has so many pots to wash and lots to organise in time
for cooks much anticipated arrival from visiting relatives…

Thank You Elizabeth for sharing your wonderful
Tudor home and family with us, can’t wait to see updates…!
